energy efficient home rating

What can you do to make your home more energy efficient?

We are surrounded by technology. The recent advances in technology allow us to make sure that our homes are the most energy efficient they could be. From apps available on our phones, to smart meters, that all make sure we are as energy efficient as we could be. But what if we could be more energy efficient?

Here are our top 6 tips for making your home more energy efficient.

1 – Don’t waste waterrunning water from tap, not energy efficient

Don’t leave the tap running when you are brushing your teeth. Only wash full loads in the machine. Shower instead of running a bath. All good tips to help you save water.

2 – Turn down the thermostat

If you get into the habit of lowering the temperature on your thermostat while you are away from home you can affect how energy efficient you are. Hence lowering the temperature by just a couple of degrees will reduce your monthly utility bills and use less energy.

3 – Seal draughts

If your windows and doors are causing a breeze inside your home just seal the draughts. Here is another blog that we wrote about how to stop draughts in your home.

Is there anything else that you can do to become more energy efficient?

4 – Unplug chargers that are not being used

A smartphone, laptop, or tablet charger that is plugged in will not use a huge amount of power whilst not actually charging. However if we all started to unplug these whilst we are not using them they could collectively reduce our energy bills.

It has been estimated that if we unplugged everything that didn’t need to be plugged in constantly then we could reduce our energy bills by 10%.
