We are asked a lot of questions about aluminium doors and windows. Here are 5 frequently asked questions about bifold doors and why you should choose them for your home improvements.

1 – How large can bifold doors be made?

Aluminium bifold doors can be made to the measurements that your property needs. Generally each panel in the door can be made to 1000mm wide, though some styles can be made wider. Mechanical joins can mean that your total door width can be more than a standard bifold door.

The panels can be as tall as you need them to be, ranging up to 3000mm in some cases.

Top tip – we don’t recommend that your doors are as wide AND as tall as your space can allow. Remember that you will have a maximum panel weight so your doors and secure and safe. Ask one of our expert team if you are unsure.

2 – How small can bifold doors be made?

The aluminium doors that you choose can be made small if you need them to be. They can be made to your exact specifications, Remember that if they are too small they will be a window.

Top tip – don’t have bifold doors that are smaller than 1.5m in width as they will begin to bind as they fold up.

Our experts would recommend that your maximum panel width is 1400mm and minimum width is 700mm.

3 – What is a traffic door?

A traffic door is a panel in your bifold doors that allos you to have quick and easy access into or out of your property without having to slide all of the panels to the side.

You don’t have to have a traffic door, but if this is going to be the main entry or exit to your property then we would recommend that you have one.

4 – How do bifold doors work?

This is the top of the frequently asked questions about bifold doors list. The doors work by folding in on themselves and then gliding along the tracking system with the help of a series of wheels or a lower tracking system, which both lead to a smooth motion and quiet operation. Blifold doors slide in pairs. Once the panels are folded back you have opened up your property to the area outside and vice versa.

5 – What opening styles can I have?
